SUSAN BOYLE MADE ME CRY

Do you know who Susan Boyle is? If you don’t, have you been living under the same rock as me? I saw her photo on the MSN homepage, but I just skipped over the story … thinking I was missing nothing. Boy, was I ever wrong. At work, The Associated Press FINALLY did a story on her, and that’s when I FINALLY read her story. Here’s the story … “Britain’s Got Talent” is a reality show featuring talented people. It’s so successful overseas that the U.S. decided to jump on the bandwagon and copy it with “America’s Got Talent.”

Anyway, back to Susan Boyle … she’s a bit overweight and frumpy. She’s also an unemployed charity worker who took care of her mother until she passed. Apparently, she loves to sing and has an amazing voice. Before entering the contest, she sang in church and did the karaoke circuit. So, on the TV show, she walks onto the stage, and the audience and the judges don’t seem impressed … you know what? I’m just going to say it … everyone was a little judgmental based on her appearance.

People rolled their eyes and snickered when she admitted being a professional singer was her dream. But as soon as she opened her mouth to sing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, the audience stood up in amazement. The camera caught everyone’s shocked looks as she sang. She has the most AMAZING voice, and she made me teary! I didn’t start crying until I saw her in tears, realizing she made it to the next stage of the show. Everyone had nothing but praise for her.

Now, that everyone knows Susan Boyle and her amazing voice, everyone wants a little piece of her. She’s making the talk shows … even Oprah snagged Susan to sing on her show. I wonder if Oprah will give her a makeover? And would that be insulting? So, hop on to Youtube and type in SUSAN BOYLE. I highly recommend watching the seven-minute version because you hear the judges’ praise and watch her humble reaction. I promise you that you won’t regret it … like millions of others, I am amazed.
