Yay! My third Stitch Fix box finally arrived a few weeks ago! Despite my newfound love for refashioning, I still love receiving new clothes every now and then. Quick summary of Stitch Fix: a personal stylist chooses five items from somewhere in California and ships the box full of goodies to my home address. I have three days to try on the items with other stuff from my closet and debate what I want to keep or send back. A prepaid envelope is included in the box for the unwanted items.
I absolutely love love love love the maroonish BREYSON SPLIT-NECK TAB-SLEEVE KNIT TOP. It’s stylish, flattering, and comfortable. I really didn’t need to try the top on because I knew I was going to keep it. But I tried it on anyway to make sure it fit me, and then I pranced around my living room for a good five minutes. I like clothes that make me feel pretty.
My first reaction at the GIDEON REVERSIBLE POLKA DOT SWEATER was “Nope, not for me.” But after a second look, I had a second thought, “I have a skirt that would work perfectly with the sweater.” Upon an even closer look, I realized the sweater was reversible! My third thought, “Sweeeet!” But I couldn’t decide whether or not the sweater flattered me.
Charlie thought the sweater looked too much like a holiday sweater, giving me a limited time to wear it. But my co-workers quickly dismissed his theory and adored the sweater. Despite their adoration, I still had my reservations about it, and because I didn’t fall in love with it immediately, I returned the sweater.
Most of the time, horiztonal stripes don’t flatter me and the CORINNA STRIPED DOLMAN TOP was no exception. Plus, my co-workers pointed out a similar top could be found for much less at any department store. Good point. I didn’t even need to try on before putting in the prepaid envelope. Plus, the shirt reminds of Freddy Krueger haunting me.
I nicknamed the QUEENSLAND DOLMAN JERSEY TOP the “bat wing” shirt because of the droopy sleeves near the armpits. I understand the style of the shirt, and two of my co-workers looks fabulous in that style. But I don’t look or feel fabulous, and the shirt didn’t fit me well. As much as I love the color black, I sent the shirt back.
I really really really really wanted the PEARSON DOT KNIT LONG SLEEVE SWEATER to look fabulous on me, but it didn’t. I love the lightweight feel and the dots on the sweater, but I didn’t feel sexy or comfortable. Plus, I already have a similar light green knit cardigan in my closet, and the cardigan looks much better on me.
I really want to schedule my next fix, but Charlie and I haven’t found a place in Iowa yet. I’m so grateful my family is in the area, and Charlie can stay with my parents for a bit in January. But I want to start rolling the ball — address changes for mail and magazines, schedule my next fix, move some boxes to my dad’s house, etc. I guess I have to settle for just cleaning and packing … for now.
