GAVIN’S QUILLOW: The second quillow I made was actually a birthday gift my nephew, Gavin. Due to the time gap between the very first quillow I made and Gavin’s quillow, I couldn’t remember how much fleece I used or any other measurements.
Because I was too lazy rebellious to seek advice on the interweb, I just matched the quilty side to fit two yards of fleece (the quillow backing). However, when I picked out the soccer fleece, I asked for 1.5 yards — not 2 yards. Again, I couldn’t remember how much fleece I used for the first quillow.
No big deal about the 1.5 yard of soccer fleece. Luckily, I had some other fleece pieces to spare and simply added a small strip of solid bright yellow fleece and little less than half a yard of Minnesota Vikings fleece (Gavin’s favorite football team). The quillow pocket was made from solid red fleece.
Overall, I really like Gavin’s quillow. The quilty part was pretty simple to assemble and sew, and I like the way the three-piece fleece backing worked out. Gavin said he likes the quillow, and I hope every time he uses it or sees it, he’ll remember I’m the best aunt ever!
