I really can’t explain my love for plushy toys. Teddy bears. Beanie Babies. Anything cute and plushy. If you follow my blog, then you know I love scoring a fantastic deals. I was really disappointed when my local drugstore cleared its shelves of all extra large plushy animals the day after Valentine’s Day! The day after! What the pooh? What. The. Pooh?
Actually, I’m kind of kicking myself because a super cute and extra large plushy frog was only $9.99. But the thought of buying the plushy frog for $5 made me happier. *sigh* Fortunately, a few days after Easter the same drugstore still had a nice selection of candy and plushy toys. Yay! I was completely prepared to pay $7 for cute yellow duck (original price: $14.99).
A pink rabbit. A green frog. A yellow duck. Three really good choices, but one of the two remaining yellow ducks had a small hole on its backside and its feet were a little dirty. So, what does any good thrifter do? Ask for an additional discount on the “damaged” duck! The latest addition to my plushy little family only cost me $4! Woot! Good gracious I love scoring a fantastic deal.
I just needed 10 minutes to mend the back with a my handy dandy needle and thread, and toss the cute little duck — named Sally — into the washing machine on the super gentle cycle and the dryer on the delicate cycle. And cute little Sally came out of the dryer brand spanking new and soft! Isn’t she beautiful? $4 well spent. 🙂
