CC4: SKIRT FIXATION

Editor’s note: CC stands for copycat in my world, and this week, I’m introducing seven amazing refashionistas who inspire me with their creations and refashions. They see the potential in ugly or outdated clothes and refashion them into something stylish and beautiful.

I don’t feel so bad about the high number of new and refashioned skirts in my closet after discovering Audrey’s love for refashions and skirts at Skirt Fixation. On her site, Audrey challenge refashionistas to create something beautiful out of an ugly skirt, and I accepted her challenge. I’m not quite finished with my new creation, but I will definitely blog about it sometime in July. So stay tuned!

22.SKIRT

ME: When and how did you discover clothes refashion?

AUDREY: Because I am so tall, I have always had to refashion RTW (ready to wear) clothing to work for my size! But I discovered the lovely internet sewing world of refashions through the New Dress A Day blog.

11.SKIRT

ME: Where do you find your inspiration or jolt of creativity?

AUDREY: Currently, sewing competitions seem to be the most motivating for me!  They just make me want to sew and are so inspiring when you see what everyone else makes.

ME: Which TV character’s fashion style is your favorite (i.e. Lucy Liu from Elementary or Jennifer Aniston from Friends)?

AUDREY: Sorry, I don’t own a television!

ME: I think my life would be meaningless if I didn’t have a TV (sort of joking sort of not). I like to have the TV on for background noise when I’m working on a project — kind of helps me keep track of time.

  1. Paige looks amazing in dresses but she only wears them on special occasions. I’m on her back all the time about dressing up a little. Jeans without rips or holes and nice shirt without stains isn’t really dressing up. 😛 I still love her though.

  2. Skirts are always amazing, and even better when they’re on clearance or when you make them from something old. Great job!

  3. You ladies definitely have some great talent and creativity! I couldn’t imagine taking old clothes and turning them into something new again. Great ideas. Thanks so much!

  4. I’m with you, Jennifer. I think I would die of boredom if I didn’t have a TV! Even though I love TV, I don’t watch it all the time but I can’t miss some of my favorite shows! Especially the Food Network. And the Good Wife. And Rizzoli and Isles.

  5. Jennifer, I love that you’re shining the spotlight on other people who refashion! What a great way to spread the word and projects. I have to admit that after reading about all these other talented refashioners that I might look into saving some of my old clothes. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. I don’t watch too much TV either, but I’ve always admired Eva Longoria’s sense of style. Very classic and stylish.

  7. I suppose it’s really not that hard to turn an old garment into a cute skirt for a little girl … you guys make it looks so easy! I might have to try this because my little girl grows so fast!

  8. I love wearing skirts in the summer — i’m fond of the twirly skirts. Comfortable and cool for the warm weather, but yet I look nice.

  9. I love skirts, especially in the warm months. Just slip on a skirt and a tee and some sandals and I’m good to go. Great job, ladies.

  10. I’m kind of impressed you found someone who might have more skirts than you. :p Peyton tells me I need to wear more skirts and dresses. Miss you, girl!
